Senior Managing Director
Kevin Muehring is Senior Managing Director at SGH Macro Advisors, a Greenwich CT-based consultancy on monetary and macro economic policies and politics to international hedge funds and asset managers. Since joining SGH in 2011, his primary responsibilities have been its coverage of the Federal Reserve, Saudi Arabia, and OPEC. He also oversees SGH’s coverage of the political and fiscal policy developments on Capitol Hill.
Mr. Muehring began his career as a journalist in Saudi Arabia from 1980 to 1984, reporting on Saudi oil policy, OPEC, and the Saudi banking system, for the Jeddah-based Saudi Gazette newspaper and as a contributor to the Associated Press, the International Herald Tribune and the Financial Times. From 1985 to 1998, he was a financial journalist at Institutional Investor magazine, first as the magazine’s European Bureau Chief in London covering the Middle East and European monetary poicy, and later as its New York-based senior correspondent, writing primarily on the Federal Reserve and the IMF/World Bank.
He left Institutional Investor in September 1998 to join Medley Global Advisors as a member of its founding group, helping to build it into the preeminent consultancy on monetary and macro policy before its sale to outside investors in 2006. During his years at MGA, he continued to write on Saudi Arabia and the Federal Reserve while running its worldwide content team for six years.
Mr. Muehring graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and English Literature, and studied at New York University’s School of Journalism Masters Program in Economic Reporting.
