North Korea: Averting a Nuclear Test and Escalation

Published on April 14, 2017

Tensions have been running perilously high between North Korea and the United States as military and intelligence agencies brace for the possibility of a highly provocative, sixth, nuclear test by President Kim Jong-Un on the 105th year birth anniversary tomorrow of Kim Jong-Un’s grandfather, Kim Il-sung.

As a warning to Pyongyang, the Trump Administration has not only dispatched a naval convoy to the area led by the USS Carl Vinson, but has ordered fighter jets to conduct exercises in the air as well.

*** We have just learned a small Chinese delegation led by a senior official has been dispatched to Pyongyang for a secret visit today (Friday). We will monitor the situation and update you if there are any material developments on this front.
