Director

Shanice West joined SGH in 2023 as Director, expanding on her experience in building partnerships and focusing on strategic growth. 

West launched her career as a Financial Integration Intern at the Pentagon. After three rotations in the Department of Defense, West decided to pursue her passion for community building and learning and pivoted into education as a STEM teacher in New York City. After spending six years in the classroom, she transitioned to an International Boarding School as the Assistant Director of Co-Curriculum and Internship Partnerships focused on US Policy. 

In this role West built a strong network in both the US House of Representatives and Senate as well as with various think tanks in Washington, DC. She was particularly active in helping international students obtain meaningful US internships that helped foster a more global network for the school. 

Her time there resulted in an expansion of partnerships for the institution and stimulated a personal, deepening interest in technology, finance, and policy. 

West grew up in Virginia and Italy. She followed up her graduation from Spelman College as a “Teach for America” Fellow and continued her studies at Columbia University. She enjoys volunteering, including tenure as the Fundraising Gala Project Manager for the Spelman College National Association of Alumnae for the New York Chapter.
